MONSTER POSTING WIZARD INSTRUCTIONS
Setup for Monster Posting:
- Contact PCRecruiter ASP support or your server administrator to verify that 'position_fields.fname' has been set to the correct length for your database. If you click 'Details > Monster Fields' on a job record and do not see 'JOB_HIDE_CONTACT_COMPANY' in the list of fields, your database needs to be adjusted.
- An administrator must enable Monster XML posting:
- Open SYSTEM >> (1) Console >> (1) Edit Database Names and Locations.
- Click "Go" for the selected database.
- At the bottom of the scrolling left side menu, select "Job Board List".
- Check off "Monster XML " (If you do not see this option, contact your PCRecruiter representative.)
- Click Save
- Every user who will be sending jobs to the Monster.com site must be configured for posting to Monster by using the "Configure" link under the Monster 'Setup' column in the 'External Posting' area on a job record:
- The "Posting URL" is always https://gateway.monster.com:8443/bgwBroker
- Complete the Company Code, Username and Password for your XML posting account. The username and password for uploading via HTTP/XML is not the same as your website login for Monster.com. Your Monster. com representative should be able to provide you with your 'xcode' (company code), as well as a username (usually the 'xcode' with two digits at the end) and a password.
Posting to Monster.com:
- Before posting:
- Verify that your job record has a valid Title, Job Description, City, State and Zip.
- If you are using the PCRecruiter Web Extensions and plan to have your Monster candidates submit contact info and resumes directly into your PCRecruiter database, use the "Add Links" option at the lower right corner of the job description entry box to add a link to the Online Application to the Job Description.
- If you have copied your Job Description text into PCRecruiter from Microsoft Word, you will want to go to the 'Background Properties' button (lower-right corner of the editing toolbar, below the Spellcheck button) and choose Format >> HTML Cleaner. Select “No” in the popup that appears. This will clear out any Word-specific code, which often causes problems when transferred from Word to the Web. You may need to alter the formatting manually after the cleaning is complete. If you have no “HTML Cleaner” option, you may need to update the PCRecruiter control pack on your PC – www.pcrecruiter.net/controls.exe.
- Place a checkmark in the 'Site' column for Monster.
- Click Next to navigate to the Monster details for the current position.
- The following fields are required:
- JOB_LOCATION_COUNTRY
- JOB_LOCATION_STATE
- JOB_LOCATION_CITY
- JOB_CATEGORY
- Other fields which you may wish to mark:
- JOB_HIDE_APPLY_ONLINE -- if you wish for candidates to use an "Apply" link that you have added to the job description instead of using Monster's apply button, you will want to set this option to "Yes".
- JOB_HIDE_COMPANY_INFO -- if you wish for this job to appear on Monster.com with your company's name visible, you will want to set this option to "No". If set otherwise, the company may be listed as "Company Confidential".
- Click Save after entering the necessary data.
- Click Post to begin upload of this job to Monster.com. A new screen will appear which will provide details on the success or failure of the process. Depending on server traffic and queue length at the Monster.com server, it may take up to an hour for the change to be reflected online.
- Click Close to exit the PCRecruiter Posting Wizard.
Removing / Reposting Positions on Monster.com:
- Place a checkmark in the 'Site' column for Monster.
- Click Next to navigate to the Monster details.
- Click Repost to re-transmit the job or Remove to pull it off of Monster.com. Depending on server traffic and queue length at the Monster.com server, it may take up to an hour for the change to be reflected online.
NOTE: If an applicant follows an 'apply' link generated and uploaded from PCRecruiter, you should see a 'Referrer: Monster' custom field added to their name record in the database.
