Candidate Tracking – Benefits to Job Seekers

We know that candidate tracking is extremely beneficial and cost effective for companies, but how does it affect job seekers.

While applicant tracking systems have a large number of growing features, it’s easy to focus on those that benefit companies and employers the most. The software helps HR departments consolidate their tasks and keep track of potential hires, as well as save time and money.

However, according to an article by The ATS Guy, it’s also important to remember what features benefit the candidates themselves. Although some candidates feel ATS take away the personal aspect of the hiring process, there are some upsides, such as reassurance that a company has received your resume.

One ATS feature that is extremely beneficial to candidates is the automated response function.

“I remember when I used to send out resumes by snail mail before the general use of the Internet and ATSs,” the article states. “I found it frustrating to have to wait to receive confirmation on whether or not anybody had received or reviewed it.

“Today, an ATS can send out an e-mail immediately just as a candidate finishes applying,” the article adds. “At that point, they probably know that no one has actually read the resume, but at least they know it is in the system.”

Some candidate tracking systems are even able to send responses as a candidate moves further along through the hiring process, or as a candidate is no longer being considered for a particular position.

ATS also give companies the option of customizing automated responses to match a certain candidate’s information, company branding and specific messaging.
