Job Description

SUMMARY:

Manufacturing Process Engineer with device or wire harness encapsulation/potting/molding experience to support the manufacture and processes development for potting area for cable assemblies. You will be optimizing and documenting manufacturing processes relating to Potting, Encapsulation and Molding, providing guidance and assistance to Manufacturing Technicians and fellow engineers for higher-level applications, and leading problem-solving and continuous-improvement activities. A minimum of three to five years of on-the-job experience in a similar position is required.

  • Provide primary engineering support for production with the development of engineering documentation relating to encapsulation, potting and molding of wire harness assemblies

  • Lead the development and improvement of key production processes relating to potting and molding

  • Support manufacturing engineering feedback to product & design engineering in support of manufacturing activities related

  • Coordinate, support and create production manufacturing instruction to facilitate production efficiency and control

  • Assist in setting up and sustainment off production flow in both cells and batch lines by coordination time studies and definition of structures work flow

  • Evaluate and propose acquisition of new tools, equipment and processes to aid in production efficiency and safety

  • Analyze internal manufacturing performance metrics to identify and resolve manufacturing and business process problems

  • Interact directly with the customer engineering on manufacturing-related topics

  • Perform analysis of internal production performance metrics for reporting and discussion in internal and external meetings.

  • Provide leadership and direction to the manufacturing engineering technicians and engineers

  • Assist with the research for new technology as well as industry proven epoxies (ambient/ UV light/ heat cure), material specific adhesives, solvents, and other specialty items required to support new product development

  • Trial new materials in a documented manner such as verification protocol, or validation protocol if required

  • Training or certification on IPC-620 and other applicable cable potting/encapsulation specifications

  • Experience with AutoCAD, Catia(V4/V5), Pro Engineer (Wildfire/CREO), and/or SolidWorks

  • Highly adept with technical engineering drawings, specifications and other engineering documentation

  • Excellent personal computing skills, particularly Microsoft Office

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Effectively communicate with all levels of personnel

  • Ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks in a high pace and responsive environment

  • Able to lead cross-functional teams’ efforts and manage internal projects

  • Able to work in a fast-pace, ambiguous, rapidly changing environment

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    A Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following required (or 5-10 years of similar experience): Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Chemistry or equivalent

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in adhesives, potting/encapsulates and conformal coatings
