We have an exciting opportunity for an Adult Behavioral Health Supervisor to join our team of talented professionals.  

As an ABH Supervisor, you will be responsible for:
•Provide day-to-day supervision of all direct line staff.
•Organize and implement a full orientation to the electronic medical record, managed care operations, and the payment structure based on collections to every new employee and provide ongoing support in this area.
•Assist in the development of the program budget and monitor/adjust expenses as needed to remain profitable.
•Remain current with new research in the field and educate program staff on any relevant findings.
•Plans, directs, supervises, and coordinates work activities of subordinates and staff relating to service delivery to affected client groups. 
•Understand and provide support to staff regarding decision making as it relates to medical necessity and continuing care criteria for community mental health and other third party insurance companies.
•Review and approval for all comprehensive clinical assessments to assure ongoing medical necessity.
•Monitor authorizations and write offs for each staff working with managed care and design trending reports to identify problem areas.
•Review and organize all treatment records and reports pertaining to the treatment and the rendering of services to clients.
•Assist in addressing and resolving client and/or family complaints as well as advocate for family rights.
•Work in conjunction with inter-departmental groups to ensure smooth and consistent administration of the services under your direction.
•Complete documentation, referrals, and other required paperwork as required.
•Make recommendations regarding the hiring, evaluations, and release of staff.
•Provide constant and consistent feedback to staff regarding performance.
•Develop the agendas and facilitate regular staff meetings and keep sign in sheets and detailed minutes of such.
•Develop monitoring system for analyzing staffing needs and communicate regularly with administration on recommendations.
•Assume responsibility for reports and contract management of all grants and other funding sources.
•Participate in assessment of community needs and consult with community organizations as needed.
•Act as liaison and participate in agency committees as assigned.
•Complete 25 hours of program and position specific training on an annual basis.
•Work collaboratively with Program Director and Finance to ensure funding requirements and budgetary guidelines are met.
•Other duties as necessary or requested. 

To qualify for this position, you will need the following:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited social services program with a full licensure in the State of Michigan.  LMSW or Ph.D. preferred. 
  • Candidate must be eligible for a Qualified Mental Health Professional credential at time of hire. 
  • Must have at least 1 year of supervisory experience OR a combination of supervisory and senior clinician experience including oversight of medical record reviews equal to 1-1/2 years with at least six months of that time having been in a direct leadership / supervisory capacity.
  • Specific experience working with case management staffing in a community mental health setting and knowledge of community resources is preferred.  
  • Must have a Certified Advanced Addictions Credential or have the ability to be approved for a professional development plan through MCBAP within 30 days of hire. 
  • Formal training in Integrated Dual Diagnosis Treatment is preferred.
  •  A minimum of three (3) years experience treating the substance abuse and mental health population is required.
  • Must demonstrate job experience and competence in individual, family and group mental health and substance abuse treatment. 
  • Demonstrate competence in working in a collaborative way with clients and community, cultural competence, good organizational skills, and the ability to work both independently and as a team member. 
  •  Must be able to work independently.
  •  Must have excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. 
  • Must have excellent organizational and attention to detail skills in order to track and prepare data. 
  • Additional requirements include a nonjudgmental approach that reflects cultural competency and sensitivity to the unique needs and diverse experiences of our clients, staff members and all of the programs represented at The Guidance Center. 
  • Must have the ability to appropriately handle crisis situations.
