Job Description

 

1.                      Position Responsibilities

 

 

            Responsible for assigned customer funded tooling programs from their inception to customer approval and production acceptance.  This responsibility to include the initiation and maintenance of related tooling A/R’s.

 

            To work as required, with customer and/or custome

             designated      design or   engineering groups to promote   part       design that will enhance part quality and improve production productivity.

Coordination of Engineering Changes to ensure customer/program funded tooling is up to date and properly identified.

            Participates and travels when necessary to respond in a timely manner to customer/program issues, projects, equipment, tooling and product design as required.

 

     Support ISO/TS16949 activities.

 

     Participates in continuous improvement activities to promote a positive image for

Company products.

 

            Responsible for coordination and liaison with tooling pertaining to design and engineering changes and the cost implications arising from same with vendors/tool shops.

 

            To assist and coordinate all customer related specifications documentation, drawings and/or design data.

 

     Champions Company product development teams and participates in other

teams that relate directly to the individuals assigned projects.

 

 

2.         Accountability

 

            Ensure all Log Issues and Part Studies related to assigned projects are addressed and coordinated in an expedient manner.  The response shall be timely and detailed to be in the best interests of company products.

 

            Ensure that all part drawings/data, customer specifications, Company specifications, New Part Authorizations, Drawing and Change Control records and customer approvals are current and on file and approved by the Program Manager where necessary.

 

            Ensure suppliers are coordinated with appropriate Design contacts and provided with appropriate Company documents, including part drawings and updates.

 

            Report program/project status and activity in a timely and consistent manner with the individual’s line of reporting, and those individuals and/or groups that require such information on a regular and agreed upon manner.

3.         Organizational Relationship

 

Reports to the Product Engineering/Facility Manager.

 

No direct supervision of others.

 

Internal contacts throughout the plant; external contacts with customers,  and corporate associates and tooling and equipment suppliers.

 

 

4.         Guidance and Direction Received

 

            The incumbents work to broad departmental objectives contained in the Engineering Manual and Core elements, and are required to exhibit a good deal of independent judgment and creativity.  Only limited direction is required.

 

 

5.         Education/Experience Required

 

3 year Diploma or University Degree in Engineering Technology

 

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

 

Working knowledge of statistical techniques and requirements.

 

            3-5 years’ experience in an automotive field or discipline within a manufacturing setting.

 

                Computer literate with Office software as Company  required.

 

Ability to work with automotive drawings or CATIA.

 

Ability to understand tooling design and possess cost optimization skills.
