Job Title Operating Engineer (3rd Class) & Maintenance Mecha

Job Description

Reporting to the Chief Operating Engineer, this position is accountable for contributing to various Operating Engineering and Maintenance tasks. This position will maintain the life of equipment, minimize downtime, and ensure the safe and efficient operations of the plant.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Responsible for maintenance and operation of boilers, ammonia/ Freon refrigeration, cooling tower and air compressors

Perform preventative maintenance for all packaging and production equipment, as well as service and utilities

Maintain and operate boilers, air compressors, ammonia refrigeration, water chillers, cooling tower and building facilities

Maintain and troubleshoot processing equipment such as UHT, VTIS, Pasteurizer, Silo, AST tanks, valves and pumps

Coordinate with Production, Maintenance and outside contractors and ensure that work is completed in a safe manner that complies with all necessary manufacturing codes, regulations and standards i.e. H&S, GMP’s, HACCP, WHMIS, MSDS etc.

Communicate daily Engineering Activities with Chief Engineer; update all daily engineering logs

Identify opportunities and make recommendations to continuously improve maintenance operations and efficiencies

Qualifications and Competencies:

 

Minimum 3 years maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably? food industry; dairy or fluid industry considered a strong asset

Must possess a valid 2nd or 3rd Class Operating Engineer Certificate

Industrial Electrician License and/or Millwright License considered a strong asset

Must display excellent sanitary habits and possess knowledge of GMPs and HACCP

Strong preventative maintenance and?troubleshooting ability

Solid knowledge of high speed filling and packaging lines and PLCs?

Refrigeration B license and boiler experience an asset

Familiar with continuous improvement processes and methodologies considered an asset

Good communication skills, including written and verbal

Must be flexible in terms of shift work and perform other duties as required

Physically capable of performing the demands of the job

 

Computer skills considered an asset
