Director of Market Access & Payer Strategy

A high-growth, specialty pharmaceutical company in the SF Bay area is adding a Director of Market Access and Payer Strategy to their commercial organization. They are expanding in the inflammation market and need a payer channel strategist to help ensure that appropriate patients have full access to their products. If you are seeking a high-profile assignment in a stable organization this could be the opportunity for you – with 20% average revenue growth each of the past three years and four first-in-class products in late stage clinical development they are poised for an extended period of expansion. The Opportunity


The Director will build the market access strategy for a line of innovative pharmaceutical products used to treat inflammatory diseases. The lead product is in the immunological market and is in Phase III development – the Director will build a small market access team and launch the product in the payer channel. This position will work closely with colleagues in marketing, sales, medical affairs and finance to develop the value proposition for their products and help ensure favorable reimbursement across the payer landscape. The Director will evaluate coverage, coding and payment options in the US market and provide subject matter expertise to influence market entry strategies and product life-cycle plans.

In this newly created position the Director will also support field-based reimbursement teams who are assisting customers as they gain access to the products, most of which are distributed through specialty pharmacies. You will develop value dossiers for all products, and engage in market research for development stage drugs as product launch plans are being developed. Other duties include publication planning and partnering with US pricing and government policy colleagues to establish optimal coverage and reimbursement. You will present and defend recommendations to senior management on a routine basis. Qualifications

• 12+ years of sales and marketing experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry
• 6+ years of market access and reimbursement strategic planning in a headquarters based assignment
• Specific experience working in specialty markets with products distributed through specialty pharmacies or hospitals
• US product launch experience and deep understanding of health policies that impact specialty products
• Bachelor's degree or better; MBA or MPH preferred

The industry-leading compensation plan includes a highly competitive base salary plus incentive-plan bonus, restricted stock units and an opportunity for stock options.
This position will be based in the San Francisco Bay area; full relocation assistance is available.
