About the Job

Our client is looking for a talented Intermediate Design & Drafting Technologist to join the Production Department in their fast paced Orillia office. The successful candidate will enjoy permanent full time employment with a dynamic and growing Architectural Design/Build firm in a fund and affordable community just North of Barrie in Cottage Country.  You will report to the Production Manager and will possess 3-5 years’ relavent work experience in the Architectural and Engineering field.  Duties will include, but are not limited, to the following;



·         Preparation of architectural, structural and solar engineering design and working drawings

·         Projects include; single to multi-family residential, renovations, decks, garages, boathouses, small modular homes to large modular camps, structural slabs, small to mid-sized commercial buildings, custom framing details, solar PV roof top and ground mount systems

·         Develop and prepare conceptual design drawings and sketches

·         Examine drawings for conformity and errors

  • Periodically assisting with on-site reviews for solar projects to collect site measurements and structural information with our field services crew
  • Attending site meetings, providing site reviews & shop drawing reviews
  • Liaising with clients, consultants and municipal officials as required throughout the design and construction process.
  •  Completion of projects within established timelines and budgets

·      Provide technical support to intern and/or junior technicians and technologists

  • Assist the senior management team to meet client goals and ensure client satisfaction
  • Working in a fast-paced environment, balancing several projects, under tight deadlines



  • Proficiency in Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD and Microsoft Office is mandatory. 
  • Competency with the Ontario Building Code is essential
  • Knowledge of construction detailing for variety of building systems and types
  • Exceptional organization, time management, verbal and written communication skills
  • Successful completion of BCIN examinations is required (General Legal, House, Small Buildings, etc.)
  • Self-motivated, Strong work ethic, a person who takes pride in the quality of their work
  • Comfortable on an active job site, occasionally in high areas using ladders or lift equipment
  • Valid driver’s license, own vehicle, hard hat, work boots

Education and Experience Required:

  • Diploma or Degree from 2+ year Architectural or Civil Engineering Technology program 
  • 3-5 years full time Architectural and/or Engineering workplace experience or equivalent
  • Combination of education and relevant work experience will also be considered
  • Experience using a Total Station and surveying equipment would be an asset
  • Construction experience and professional accreditation (AATO or OACETT) would be an asset



  • $40,000 to $55,000 Yearly, based on experience
  • 40 Hours/Week (Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm)

Successful candidates must be hard working, eager to learn and continue with their professional development on their own.

They must have their BCIN for General Legal, House and/or Small Buildings.

Must know AutoCAD and Revit, or are willing to take a course and learn Revit before starting.

Must provide a portfolio and be prepared to possibly demonstrate knowledge of CAD and/or Revit during the interview.
