Job Description
The Category Analyst will work directly with Sales, Marketing, Trade Marketing and cross-functionally with Finance, Supply Chain, Operations and IT departments to ensure business strategy compliance and adherence to the trade spend and promotional budget. The Trade Marketing Analyst is primarily responsible for building tools and reports that allow tracking of sales and marketing planning, performance, and pre-promotional ROI as well as post promotional event lift and sell-through analysis.



  • Ensure consumer marketing programs are aligned and executed with eligible retail and food service partners

  • Maintain and measure online repository of signed program agreements and commitments

  • Track proof of performance to include distribution levels, promotional activity, and off-shelf display with reporting from distributors’ data systems.

  • Use data to perform sales and category analysis for category and competitive products. This will include top-line reporting, category reviews, POS reporting, managing execution of product promotions, and formulation of potential pricing strategies.

  • Utilize customer specific data systems to report sales trends for retailers supplied by large wholesalers (store count, average items sales etc.)

  • Build reports that track slotting and promotional spending vs. budget, and deduction validation for accounting. Build and maintain promotional calendars across key customers.

  • Candidate should be able to work in a collaborative manner with the team and cross functional internal departments.

  • Candidate should have a strong desire to one day lead sales or marketing activities at the National Retail or Category level.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, or related field

  • Excellent analytical skills; advanced proficiency with MS Office Tools

  • Ability to work in fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

  • 1-2 years of strong analytical experience. CPG retail experience a plus. Familiarity with protein category beneficial but not necessary.

  • Experience in grocery or convenience analytics or experience at a retailer in an analytics role ideal

  • Knowledge of syndicated and customer data (Nielsen, Retail Link) strongly preferred.
