Job Description

Our client is a world leader in mass produced engineered parts and clamp products mainly in the automotive marketplace.  This position is available as the result of promotion and will be attractive to candidates with a 'start-up' attitude who are able to demonstrate solid performance in a stable and secure corporate environment of a large multinational.

The Marketing and Product Manager Americas, manages the Company product portfolio and marketing  from strategic planning to tactical activities in the sales region of Americas. This extends from managing the product knowhow transfer of existing products to our sales and application engineers as well to customers, to developing new products in the field of connecting technology. The MPMs key responsibility is to build products from existing ideas, and help to develop new ideas based on his/her industry experience and his/her contact with customers and prospects. He/she therefore must possess a unique blend of business and technical savvy; a big-picture vision, and the drive to make that vision a reality. He/she enjoys spending time in the market to understand their problems, and find innovative solutions for the broader market. He must be able to communicate with all areas of the company. He/she will work in cooperation with our R&D and AEC to define product release requirements. The MPM will work with our sales, application and development engineers to define the go-to-market strategy, helping them understand the market requirements, product positioning, key benefits, and target customer. He/she will also drive the marketing activities in Americas and serve as the internal and external evangelist for your product offering, occasionally working with the sales and key customers. A Marketing/Product manager's key role is strategic, not tactical. This senior position requires travel to customer and non-customer sites (20-30%).


Key responsibilities

  • Ensure implementation of the global marketing and product strategy in Americas ($150M+)
  • Elaborate, understand and specify market requirements for existing and future products: in-depth validation of requirements, market research and surveys, visit customers and prospects, build business cases
  • Manage the processing of business opportunity requests in close cooperation with sales, our application engineering, production, R&D and assembly tool centers
  • Manage the introduction of new products in Americas in cooperation with the global marketing team, manage dedicated promotion activities
  • Ensure optimum know how transfer and provide product training to sales and to application engineers
  • Prepare the annual marketing plan in coordination with the Sales Directors and Managers in Americas and manage to schedule and budget
  • Lead the marketing & sales support team of 6 professionals across the Americas reporting directly to you and coordinate creation and maintenance of the communication channels & marketing means, in particular literature, promotion material, sample sets, trade show displays & giveaways
  • Manage outside vendors that contribute to branding, awareness and lead generation including interactive/direct marketing agencies, designers, ad agencies, translation companies, printing companies, lead nurturing providers
  • Conduct proactively market and competitor intelligence as well as trend analysis in our key market segments in Americas

Job Requirements

Education:

  • The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s or Master Degree in Industrial Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience in both areas, engineering and business
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English; Spanish, Portuguese or German would be a benefit

Experience and skills:

  • 8+ years directly related experience in Product Management and Marketing
  • The ideal candidate can demonstrate the ability to influence cross-functionally to meet market requirements
  • Customer oriented and ability to provide effective direction, leadership and team building
  • Detail-oriented with experience developing business requirements and product roadmaps
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to interact with all levels of management
  • Strong working knowledge of business processes

Knowledge of any of the following industries desirable: Automotive, white goods, building and construction equipment, farming & forestry equipment or transportation equipment, Agriculture equipment, plumbing, water treatment & irrigation, PEX.
