Here are the details:
Responsible for assisting with all aspects of planning and organizing workflow, conducting all aspects of rail project design, layout, calculations and
subsequent plan preparation, plan reviews and modification, including coordination and concurrence
functions with railroad and public regulatory agencies and utility companies. Perform QA/QC design
review on complex and non-complex design tasks to ensure quality products are delivered to clients.
Prepare engineering documents and reports, such as Preliminary Engineering Studies, detail design reports,
bid packages and tabulations, probable construction cost estimates, etc.
Ideal candidates will possess a BS in Civil Engineering with 5 years of experience, 3 of which are
directly involved in railroad design. Track construction experience and/or experience working with/on
Class 1 or regional railroads is preferred. General site engineering and utility design experience is
desirable. Must have working knowledge of railroad and AREMA standards and specifications. PE or
current EI with the ability to secure PE for Ohio registration within 9 months. Hands-on design and drafting
experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or Microstation . Must be willing to relocate to Columbus, OH.
Must be willing to travel several times per year. PE or EI with the ability to gain PE registration in OH within 9
