| Job Description | MD Physician Neurology Hospitalist Jobs Incumbent will perform general history and physical examinations on patients in order to assess their health status, diagnose existing health problems and implement preventive medicine measures. Will perform routine screening exams on patients. Plan therapeutic regimens for patients that require treatment of acute illnesses and provide appropriate follow-up. Will assure timely management and referral for patients who do not respond to current treatment or in the event that advice or clinical input is needed. Will offer education and counseling to patients and employees concerning the results and meaning of examinations and tests and on preventive medicine strategies, particularly in regard to promoting health and well being. The neurology staff physician is responsible for teaching house staff, medical students and other health professionals during clinics, ward rounds, and in conferences and providing supervisory control and professional direction for specialized diagnostic units in their field of expertise, e.g., neurological conditions, EMG studies, etc. A major percentage of the physician’s time will be devoted to patient care. Depending on other activities, sufficient time will be allotted for teaching, research, and administrative duties. Qualifications: Must be a U.S. citizen; must be Board Certified/Board Eligible in Neurology; Must have a Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine; current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, Commonwealth of the U.S. or District of Columbia; must be proficient in spoken and written English. Education:Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. Approved schools are: schools of medicine holding regular institutional membership in the Association of American Medical Colleges for the year in which the degree was granted, schools of osteopathic medicine approved by the American Osteopathic Association for the year in which the degree was granted, schools Completion of an ACGME-approved Residency in Neurology. ABME-approved Board-certification strongly preferred. ACLS current certification required.
