COMMUNITY: A Community Health Center located in a rural setting in Southwestern Alaska is seeking a full time Pediatric Physician. The Community population is mainly consisting of Yup'ik Eskimos. The area is rich in culture and most people live a subsistence lifestyle. Fishing, hunting, and backcountry recreation are excellent in this region. Nearby is a 20 million acre National Wildlife Refuge where visitors can view swans and other beautiful water birds, as well as moose, caribou, brown bear, black bear, and wolves. This position would be perfect for someone seeking adventure and a true nature experience.

COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTER/POSIITION: This community health center is seeking a pediatric physician to work full time. The Pediatric Group manages approximately 1200 chronically ill patients and over 1000 well children of mainly Yup'ik Alaskan decent with significant respiratory and infectious disease issues. One pediatrician is scheduled, on a rotating basis to cover inpatient ward and manage hospitalized children with chronic or complicated issues and to staff outpatient continuity clinics for routine and complex care pediatric patients.  The pediatrician will also be responsible for providing consultation to family practitioners, mid-level, and village health aides; attending all high-risk deliveries and pediatric codes; and providing intensive care stabilization while awaiting transport. This position will be on call every 4th to 5th night and every 5th to 6th weekend. The physician should be committed to contributing to the mission of the organization, working together to achieve excellent health. The Sub-Regional Clinic serves 5 villages and has a staff of 19 (registration, health aides, lab, behavioral health, facilities, and administration). They are a community health center dedicated to providing quality, comprehensive health care in an accessible and affordable manner to all persons regardless of age, sex, ethnicity or economic situation.

REQUIREMENTS: The candidate should be self-directed, able to work well in teams, have strong teaching and mentoring skills, and be committed to serving a diverse patient population.
