| Job Description | JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: Physical Therapist Assistant GENERAL SUMMARY: The Physical Therapist Assistant is responsible for providing patient care services to patients of the comprehensive outpatient rehabilitation program. These services are specified in the plan of care of individual patients and are designed to achieve therapeutic goals and to restore the patient to maximum functioning. The Physical Therapist Assistant performs these patient care services under the direct, on- premises supervision of a licensed physical therapist. The Physical Therapist Assistant reports to the Clinic director and does not supervise any other positions. STATUS: Full-time, part-time or per diem. Non-exempt position. EDUCATION: Graduate of a physical therapist assistant program adopted by the Pennsylvania State Board of Physical Therapy which program has been approved by a nationally recognized accrediting agency. WORK EXPERIENCE: Experience in outpatient medical rehabilitation preferred. SPECIAL EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS: Possession of a current Pennsylvania license as a Physical Therapist Assistant. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Essential Elements 1. Provide patient care services as specified in the patient's plan of care.
2. Modify treatment techniques as indicated in the patient's plan of care.
3. Perform selected tests and measurements consistent with the formal education and training for a physical therapist assistant. 4. Maintain appropriate clinical documentation in a prompt and comprehensive manner, documenting patient progress. 5. Participate in plan of care meetings. Provide treatment to patients as certified and ordered by physicians using treatment modalities and practice standards recognized by the Pennsylvania State Board of Physical Therapy and the American Physical Therapy Association. 7. Coordinate treatment of patients with staff, family members, and significant others as applicable. 8. Provide treatment to patients consistent with treatment goals identified in the written treatment plan. 9. Provide specialized training to staff, family members, consultants, and other individuals as needed.
10. Participate in clinical case conferences and in-service programs to share information with the interdisciplinary team. 11. Attend team meetings and other meetings as required. 12. Actively participate on committees. Ancillary Elements 1. Utilize supplies efficiently and use equipment in a safe manner. 2. Maintain high standards of ethical conduct as accepted in the field of physical therapy and the health care industry. 3. Perform other related administrative, managerial, or technical duties as required or suggested. 4. Keep abreast of changes in procedures and treatment and suggest changes in Patient Policies as necessary. 5. Create and implements personal goals, objectives, and strategies designed to address ongoing personal development needs in order to keep up with the rapid changes in the health care industry.

Must be physically able to provide treatment and demonstrate therapeutic techniques. Sitting for paper work, meetings, activities, telephone calls, and reading information. Must be physically able to assist patients in transfer techniques. Must be able to travel to locations outside the facility on business. ACCIDENTS OR HEALTH HAZARDS: Possible exposure to blood and body fluids. WORKING CONDITIONS: Works in well lit and climate controlled building. | ||
