| Job Description | The Sr. Medical Director of Neurology, Global Medical Affairs, participates in the development of projects and operations in the Global Medical Affairs Department. The director must have a MD degree from an accredited medical school and Board-certification in an appropriate medical specialty although Neurology is preferred. Previous industry and research experience is helpful but not essential to be successful in this position. Responsibilities include 1) the planning and implementation of Neurology Phase IV studies to support Allergan US strategic initiatives 2) the clinical review and leadership of Neurology medical education and communications programs, and 3) works with US Neurology marketing and Regulatory Affairs to review promotional materials and medical conference activities. In addition, the Sr. Medical Director provides the clinical interface to Allergan Key Opinion Leaders
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Develops and implements Medical Affairs Neurology Phase IV study plan for US Neurology. This includes developing phase IV initiatives within Neurology that supports strategic marketing initiatives while further developing Allergan’s clinical advocate base along with medical affairs study support. Also responsible for the collaboration with opinion leaders on support studies and other market support publication/educational activities. 2. Attends the Global Medical Marketing monthly meetings and LMAR process associated with phase IV studies. Leads the Neurology discussion. 3. Supports marketing in KOL development and assists in the development of key Neurology KOL relationships and implementation of strategic initiatives 4. Provides clinical input in promotional review of Neurology products. Works closely with Marketing, Regulatory and Legal in the review of promotional materials and campaigns. Monitors scientific accuracy and clinical appropriateness of Neurology communications between Medical Affairs and external physicians, patients and general public.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: -Medical Degree with completed residency in Neurology or other related specialty -Familiarity with pharmacological treatment of Neurologic diseases. Industry experience in development of agents for use in Neurology is highly desirable. -Previous experience working on clinical trials and/or experience as a principle investigator is highly desirable -Area of expertise preferred: Movement disorder, Headache, Stroke, Neuro rehab, etc… -Ability to speak with great familiarity about Allergan Neurology products would be beneficial.
