Job Description

This position is responsible for the leadership of developing and executing the regional marketing and sales strategies to meet and exceed occupancy and revenue goals.

  

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

Oversees the Directors of Provider Relations and Referral Managers.

 

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1.         Creates and promotes a “Rainmaker” team and culture.

2.         Participates in developing overall sales and marketing strategy for the region including definition of marketing goals and objectives, defining the manner and style in which the region will be positioned in the market place.

3.         Responsible for the development of marketing strategies for the health care facilities of the region including the development of written individualized strategic marketing plans. These plans will identify short and long term sales strategies and marketing objectives for positioning the facility; establishing and enhancing the reputation of the facility; ensuring widespread recognition of the facility by the community and medical practitioners; communicating with area hospitals, physicians, managed care and other professional referral groups.

4.         Provide leadership to facility administrators, admission staff, marketing staff and the facility personnel as required, which includes moving people to action with a sense of clarity and purpose and communicating in such a way to elicit a willingness to act and engage in organizational objectives by others.

5.         Provide an ongoing analysis of regional performance from a marketing and sales perspective.  This management report should include systematically analyzing, synthesizing, and integrating data into highly distilled and salient information.  Analysis will also include meaningful and strategic recommendations, an assessment of the region’s progress on execution of strategic marketing plans, noting positive and negative performance issues and a course of action.  It will also identify and exploit market trends.

6.         Execute co-marketing calls and coaching calls with the RM, RRM and the center based sales and marketing team focusing on improving the sales skills of each team member and the professionalism of their approach.  These calls should set meaningful and concrete priorities in relation to goals and objectives and provide ongoing sales training to the regional referral managers, referral managers and facilities based on the “Rain” philosophy.

7.         Knowledge of all existing managed care contracts for the entire region and each individual facility.

8.         Manage and reinforce sales and marketing policies and procedures and compliance of the marketing systems at each facility to ensure the consistency and effectiveness of the company programs and brand, as well as create adroit action plans for the purposes of achieving organizational objectives.

9.         Planning the advertisement strategy and program for the region and its’ facilities.  This would include the overall development of an advertising program for each of the facilities including coordinating the development of advertising budgets and placement activities; coordination of the selection and use of marketing items used to promote the facility; and assessment of the impact of advertising return on investment.

10.       Direct the planning of special events such as opening of new facilities, units or programs including review of project details and providing ongoing consultation to facility personnel.

11.       Coordinate the two tier interview process for all facility based sales and marketing positions.

12.       Organize and execute orientation for new admission coordinator/referral managers and regional referral managers.

13.       Emotionally extends themselves to others by expressing empathy and compassion, coupled with the capacity to mirror.  Brings out the best in others by establishing a sense of respect, trust, and respect, trust and rapport, coupled with a sense of connectiveness.

14.       Complete mystery shops, audits, etc as necessary.

15.       Develop and maintain personal sales accounts to market and sell Extendicare programs and services.  Must be self motivated and demonstrate the ability to execute the “Rain” customer relationship sales and marketing method.

16.       Complies with laws and regulations applicable to position and act in accordance with Extendicare Health Services, Inc.’s Corporate Compliance Program.

17.       Treats all residents, visitors, and staff with courtesy.  Knows Resident Rights.  Helps the residents/patients exercise and/or protect their rights.  Reports resident/patient complaints to management.  Maintains confidentiality of resident/patient information.

18.       Attends and participates in inservice training, performance improvement (“PI”) committees and other meetings as scheduled and directed.  Works overtime, holiday and weekend hours as necessary to execute the regions/facility strategic sales strategies and marketing plan.

19.       Follows facility dress and hygiene policies.  Knows and follows facility rules.  Demonstrates proper use of equipment.  Reports equipment needs or repairs.  Follows facility smoking policies.  Reports and documents any incidents or accidents of residents, staff or visitors to the appropriate facility personnel.  Reports all hazardous conditions/equipment to Supervisor.  Performs duties, which may include transportation of residents, as assigned in Facility Disaster Plan.  Uses required protective equipment.  Follows infection control standards, policies and procedures.

20.       Follows and adheres to Extendicare’s policies and procedures implementing HIPAA requirements for the privacy and security of protected health information.  Uses and/or discloses only minimum amount of Protected Health Information necessary to complete assigned tasks.  Reports all suspected violation of company’s HIPAA policies or procedures to Facility Privacy Designee.

Other duties as assigned or as necessity dictates.

 

 

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High School diploma or equivalent.

 

Experience: At least one to two years of experience working in a sales and marketing environment, preferably in a health care setting.

 

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Ability to make outside sales calls.  Motivated and results driven.  Ability to relate positively, effectively and appropriately with residents, families, community members, volunteers and other facility, regional and area staff.  Possess special interest in, and a positive attitude about, working with long-term care residents and the elderly.  Ability to read, write, speak and understand English. Possesses a valid driver’s license and has access to a vehicle.  Meets all health requirements, as required by law.  50% travel required.  Basic computer skills are necessary.
