Job Description

This position acts as the primary liaison with the local hospitals with a focus on conducting in-person visits to all new inquiries and existing facility patients whenever possible. Responsible for relationship establishment with all referral sources and appropriate decision makers while applying the RAIN components of: need authentication, solution identification and relationship nurturing of hospital personnel. Coordinates in conjunction with the facility/regional SMP for the purpose of generating consistent admissions of appropriate residents into the facility that maintain a census level and payer mix at or above budget.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1.         Embraces the Rainmaker philosophy.
2.         With the support of the Regional Director of Sales and Marketing, works with the facility team in developing and maintaining the Strategic Marketing Plan (SMP) on a quarterly basis that will identify short and long term sales strategies and marketing tactics with measurable goals and specific influencer's.  This includes establishing and maintaining a positive community reputation through involvement with external organizations as determined by the Strategic Marketing Plan; assisting in facilitating Marketing Meetings minimally monthly or as designated by the Regional Director of Sales and Marketing; analyzing the market on a continual basis utilizing the SWOT analysis data to make the necessary changes to the facility’s SMP as needed; communicating market changes and census development barriers to the Administrator and Regional Director of Sales and Marketing.
3.         Executes each piece of the RAIN sales method to ensure the professionalism of their sales approach.  This includes completing a pre-call plan on all pre-scheduled sales calls; initiating and completing sales calls to appropriate influencers as identified by the strategic marketing plan; cultivating referrals/inquiries through business development tactics; qualifying each influencer/customer to ensure the facility can meet the identified needs both medically and socially; identifying the facility’s points of differences and relating the benefit to each customer based on need/objective; completing and maintaining all required sales tracking information; executing co-marketing calls and sales calls with the RDSM and facility staff when appropriate.
 
4.         Coordinates the pre-admission process and acts as liaison between the customer and the facility.  This includes coordinating the pre-admission process to include clinical information to identify care/service needs, pharmaceutical and DME requirements, and financial information; follows the Pre-Admission and Escalation Process and obtains approvals from a clinical and financial perspective consistent with Extendicare’s pre-admission process.
5.         Participates in the 24/7 (twenty four hours, seven days a week) admission coverage rotation as directed by the Regional Director of Sales and Marketing.
6.         Adheres to sales and marketing policies and procedures and compliance of the marketing systems of each to ensure the consistency and effectiveness of the facility/company programs and brand.
7.         Complies with laws and regulations applicable to position and act in accordance with Extendicare Health Services, Inc.’s Corporate Compliance Program.
8.         Treats all residents, visitors, and staff with courtesy.
9.         Attends and participates in service training, performance improvement (“PI”) committees and other meetings as scheduled and directed.
10.       Follows facility dress and hygiene policies.
11.       Knows and follows facility safety rules.Demonstrates proper use of equipment.  Reports equipment needs or repairs.  Follows facility smoking policies.  Reports and documents any incidents or accidents of residents, staff or visitors to the appropriate facility personnel.  Reports all hazardous conditions/equipment to Supervisor.  Performs duties, which may include transportation of residents, as assigned in Facility Disaster Plan.  Uses required protective equipment.  Follows infection control standards, policies and procedures.
12.       Knows Resident Rights. Helps the residents/patients exercise and/or protect their rights.Reports resident/patient complaints to management.  Maintains confidentiality of resident/patient information.
13.       Follows and adheres to Extendicare’s policies and procedures implementing HIPAA requirements for the privacy and security of protected health information.  Uses and/or discloses only minimum amount of Protected Health Information necessary to complete assigned tasks.  Reports all suspected violation of company’s HIPAA policies or procedures to Facility Privacy Designee.

Performs other duties as directed by facility/regional management.

 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High School diploma or equivalent
 
Experience: At least one year of experience working in a sales & marketing environment, preferably in a health care setting.
 
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Ability to travel required.  Capacity to effectively engage in meaningful dialog with senior management in a decisive and convincing manner. Presents persuasively and with conviction. Ability to make outside sales calls.  Ability to relate positively, effectively and appropriately with residents, families, community members, volunteers and other facility, regional and area staff.  Possess special interest in, and a positive attitude about, working with long-term care residents and the elderly.  Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.  Possesses a valid driver’s license and has access to a vehicle.  Meets all health requirements, as required by law.
