Faster Applicant Tracking with the Resume
Inhaler
The PCRecruiter Resume Inhaler is a companion to the PCRecruiter
Windows, ASP, or Web-Based Recruiting software system. It is a separate
piece of software with its own license, installation, and documentation.

Time Saving
The Inhaler can be pointed to a folder and/or to an email inbox
containing resumes, and will automatically extract contact information
and create new name records in any PCRecruiter database. The Inhaler
uses PCRecruiter's sophisticated resume handling engine to preserve
format and map the proper information into the proper fields, saving
hours of data entry time.
The Inhaler works equally well with both the Windows and Web versions
of PCRecruiter. Although it is not 100% accurate, it will tag the
records that it creates so that any errors may be corrected at a
later time.
Configurable
The Inhaler is programmed to recognize the resume formats of leading
Job Boards and Resume Banks, but you may adjust the resume definitions
as they change for greater accuracy. Users may also configure the
Inhaler to recognize custom formats – items like forms downloaded
from your website or from an e-recruiting partner. You may even
configure the Inhaler to send an Auto-Response mail of your own
design.
If you are doing corporate applicant tracking, the Inhaler can create
the required records in the database to connect applicants to specific
requisitions if your requisition identifier appears in the resume,
body, or subject line of the email that contains it. The Inhaler
will auto-record the source (in many cases) for tracking ad effectiveness
and other metrics. If the Inhaler does not recognize a source, you
can identify one at a later time or possibly configure the Inhaler
to recognize it in the future.
Money Saving
Many corporations are paying on a per resume basis and waiting up
to 72 hours for emailed Resumes to be processed into their ATS systems.
The PCRecruiter Inhaler can do it in a tiny fraction of the time,
and depending on volume, pay for itself in a very short interval.
Organizations that outsource paper resumes can gain speed and lower
costs by Inhaling the processed resumes. Because of the standard
output post-processing, the Inhaler will be 100% accurate, enabling
a one-step integration between your choice of third-party resume
processor and your PCRecruiter ATS.
Innovation By Subtraction
Many ATS systems and point-source resume extraction vendors offer
some level of auto- processing. Most reduce the document to plain
text, add that text to a searchable database, and then link the
original document from the file system of the server to a database
record. Some systems attempt (to varying degrees of success) to
extract past employers, education, and skill data and include it
in the database. This works for some purposes, but re-modeling file
systems and linked documents is a hassle if you run the system yourself.
The efficacy
of using auto-extracted skill and education information is unproven
and anecdotally ranges from “must-have” to “worse
than worthless”.
The PCRecruiter Inhaler, by contrast, places the actual document
directly into the database. The Inhaler makes no judgments about
the records beyond the contact data, which it extracts with industry-leading
accuracy into PCRecruiter, itself a proven tool for executing recruiting
and staffing functions. PCRecruiter can be used for contextual searching
of all resume data, filtered by useful demographic, assessment,
and other methods appropriate to the need.
