NEW ENHANCEMENTS/FIXES
FOR 739
DUPLICATE MERGE FIX
Some users reported problems regarding notes when doing merges.
This should be fixed now.
RESUME IMPORT CRASH FIX
Some resumes contain the right combination of graphics or other
formatting from MSWord that cause the converter subsystem to crash.
The converter has now been separated from the main Exbob.exe program
so any crashes or problems that may occur are now elegantly handed
and do not entirely crash PCRecruiter with an illegal operation.
RESUME IMPORT LASTNAME/FIRSTNAME FIX
Resumes were not being matched up by lastname/firstname properly
in all cases. This should now be fixed.
FORM LETTER OVERHAUL
The form letters area code has undergone a major overhaul. All field
merge functions have been centralized. Also, you will now notice
that you insert fields from a button on the main form letter screen
instead of from the menu. This was done so that adding and removing
fields from the list is programmatically much easier, as is inserting
merge fields for customers.
INTERVIEW TEMPLATE ADDITION
The Windows client has a new feature that follows suit with the
Web client to allow setting up interview templates for use in emailing.
It also maintains the generic type interview letter that is currently
used so those customers who do not want to change, do not have to.
Interview Templates are generated using the form letter screen.
NEW ENHANCEMENTS/FIXES FOR 740
FORM LETTER FIX
There were some form letters where the merge fields were not converting
to the new format properly. This is now fixed.
SQL BINARY MODE FIX
PCRecruiter can now work with SQL Servers that have been installed
with Binary Mode Sort Order. We do not recommend this mode on an
SQL Server, but it is now supported nonetheless.
ACTION->VIEW ACTIVITIES->INTERVIEW->JUMP
TO POSITION FIX
When viewing activities for interviews, right-clicking and jumping
to a position was sometimes going to a blank position. This is now
fixed and the proper position is brought up.
NEW ACTIVITY DEFAULT ENHANCEMENT
When adding a new activity, you can now set the default activity
type/description from the "Activity" menu.
MERGE UTILITY FIX
The merge utility included in the update was not always indexing
companies, name, and positions properly. This is now fixed.
NEW ENHANCEMENTS/FIXES FOR 741
ROLLUP LIST COUNTER FIX
When adding names/companies to a rollup list on the main form, the
counter displayed on the title bar was never reset to zero. It would
keep counting from the last time you added something to a rollup
list. i.e. it might say you have added 2000 of 1000 records, which
does not make sense. This cosmetic glitch was fixed.
NEW ENHANCEMENTS/FIXES FOR 743
EMAIL FIXES
When sending email using MAPI instead of direct SMTP, there were
some cases where some of the merge fields were not being refreshed
with each candidate's information. Therefore, the first name would
repeat for each item on the bulk email. This has been fixed.
COSMETIC FIXES
A few leftover cases of the words 'Job Order' were found and changed
to read as 'Position'.
NEW ENHANCEMENTS/FIXES FOR 744
RESUME ACTIVITIES FIX
We added a new user preference for supressing resume activities
when adding/editing resumes. Unfortunately, this was not working
correctly and it was suppressing ALL resume activities. This should
now be fixed.
INTERVIEW TEMPLATE FIX
When saving an interview template, an error was sometimes being
displayed. This should now be fixed. It was not impeding the user
from saving the template, but it should not have been there.
PRIMARY INDUSTRY FIELD NOW RESIZABLE
We had a couple of customers trying to enter primary industry text
that exceeds what the database field would hold. The primary industry
field in the database is now resizable. This gives some flexibility
to the advanced users of PCRecruiter who need to make that field
size bigger in the database.
FIND 'STATUS' FIELD FIX
If you select the NAMES tab from the main form and then press the
'FIND' button towards the top of the main form, the 'Search for Name'
form will appear. If you then select the criteria field 'Status' and
then 'Is null' or 'Is not null', the search form was not converting
to the proper internal field name for status, which is actually called
'specialty_2' and was causing searches for empty status fields to
fail. This has been corrected.
MERGE DUPLICATE COMPANIES/CANDIDATES ENHANCEMENT
When in the auditing form, when you select the criteria to find
duplicate companies/candidates, you can now also pull up a set of
companies/candidates that are on a rollup list. The reason we added
this is because many times duplicate companies/candidates may be
spelled differently. For example, company 'ABC, INC' and company
'ABC INC.' may not be found in a duplicate search even though they
are, in fact, duplicates. Now you can put both ABC companies into
a rollup list and run your duplicate merge from that rollup list.
BE CAREFUL WITH THIS FEATURE! If you pull up a rollup list and merge
them all without checking it, you may permanently combine unrelated
records. As always, back up your database before performing any
sweeping alterations.
MERGE DUPLICATE COMPANIES/CANDIDATES ENHANCEMENT
This is a small cosmetic enhancement. When viewing the form where
companies/candidates are selected to be merged, the title of that
form will now display the number of companies or candidates that
are listed.
NEW ENHANCEMENTS/FIXES FOR 745
NEW AREA CODE UPDATE
There is a new areacode.txt file included with this update.
ADDING KEYWORDS ENHANCEMENT
When adding Skills/Keywords to Companies or Candidates, there is
now a popup menu item when you click on the Specialty Code you want
that will now allow you to add just the code without the description.
RESUME HIGHLIGHT FIX
If you search keywords and pull up a resume, it highlights the words
you searched on. However, if that resume is stored as RTF/WORD,
and you are viewing it in the MSWord format, and you email/print
the resume with an attached header, the resulting document will
retain the highlighted keywords on it. This is now fixed and the
email/printed resume will not have highlighted words.
ANOTHER RESUME HIGHLIGHT FIX
If you search keywords and pull up a resume, it highlights the words
you searched on. However, if you are viewing it with MSWord, and
you unlock the resume, modify it and resave it, the highlighted
words will stick. This is now fixed and when you unlock the resume
for editing, it will reset the resume without highlighted words.
DUPLICATE MERGE SECURITY ENHANCEMENT
Now only Administrators, or those given explicit permission (a new
permission option has been added under Audit) will be able to merge
duplicates. This was added in because this could be a potentially
dangerous feature in the hands of an inexperienced user.
ADDR STREET TYPE FIX
When using the ADDR to extract address information, it was sometimes
finding the type of street incorrectly if address/city/state were
all on one line. For example, if you had Bob Hunter * 1234 ABC Avenue
* Cleveland, OH 44110, it would pull the address as "1234 ABC
Av" and miss the rest of Avenue.
DETAIL FIELDS UPDATING FIX
When cycling through records while having the detail fields listed,
it was changing the name on the detail form title, but was not updating
the values in the fields. This is now fixed.
NEW ENHANCEMENTS/FIXES FOR 746
EMAIL SUBJECT LINE FIX
When entering an email, PCRecruiter was pulling the Subject field
default from the LAST email sent. For example, if I send an email
to Joe with a subject of "test", and then I send an interview
email which should have the subject default to "Resume Interview
of Joe", the subject line defaults to "test" instead.
This was corrected.
DELETING ROLLUP LIST COSMETIC FIX
When deleting a rollup list from the SYSTEM tab (only the rollup
list itself, not the actual names, companies, or positions) the
confirmation message is much clearer on what is happening. It used
to incorrectly suggest that it was going to delete all records as
well as the rollup list, thus confusing some people.
RESUME "STROBE" EFFECT FIX
If you are viewing a resume in MSWord format in PCRecruiter, then
open the real Microsoft Word program and hit File->Open, then
switch back to PCRecruiter, you will most likely get a window that
says something to the fact of "Application busy, Switch To..
Retry". If you press the "Switch To" button a spectacular
"stobe" effect between MSWord and PCRecruiter would begin.
This is now fixed and it switches back to MSWord properly. The reason
you receive the "Application busy..." message is because
MSWord has a bug where if you have a dialog box open in one Word
application, it pauses all other concurrent instances of Word.
FORM LETTER INSERT NAME/COMPANY FIX
When inserting the name/company information in a form letter, PCRecruiter
was double spacing it. This is now fixed.
FORM LETTER NAME ADDRESS FIX
When opening older formatted form letters that have an address or
address1 for a name record, or the email (website) for a company record,
it was not converting these fields to the new format properly. This
is now fixed.
