Enhancements
and Changes - .775. - .799
(SOME FEATURES BELOW ARE STILL IN BETA
TESTING AND MAY NOT BE AVAILABLE IN YOUR DOWNLOAD)
DATA STRUCTURE CHANGES
The new versions of PCRecruiter contain some updates to the database
structure itself, which will allow for useful features to be added
in the coming months. The database structure is normally not updated.
These changes to the database require a Database Update to run.
For SQL users, this this occurs automatically and should be no trouble.
MSAccess users must perform this database update manually, and will
be prompted to do so when launching the program. Please make sure
you BACK UP your database (PCRecruiter will provide you with an
option to do so) and then press "UPDATE DATABASE" in the
SYSTEM tab.
DO NOT CLICK UPDATE DATABASE
ON THE SYSTEM TAB IF YOU ARE NOT BACKED UP OR HAVE ANY DOUBT ABOUT
YOUR BACK UP STATUS.
RETROACTIVE MAINTENANCE ENHANCEMENT
Due to the database changes mentioned above, we have created a ‘retroactive
maintenance’ system. This allows PCRecruiter to go into existing
records in the database and add any new fields that are necessary.
This is done in the background during system idle time so as not
to interfere with normal work. If you wish to disable the retroactive
maintenance, use the new item in the main Database menu.
ZIP CODE RADIUS ENHANCEMENT
When searching for zip codes from the main forms, or from the SEARCH
tab, you now have the option to include results from zip codes in
a selected mile radius as well. In order to activate this feature,
you will need to download a radius database and place it into your
PCRecruiter folder. You can download the radius database from http://www.pcrecruiter.com/radius.zip
. Make sure you unzip the file into your main PCRecruiter folder!
EDIT RESUME HEADER ENHANCEMENT
When editing an HTML resume header, PCRecruiter will now take you
to the HTML header edit instead of the RTF header edit (where you
would then have to click HTML to switch modes), thereby saving a
click in the process.
SQL DATE / TIME ENHANCEMENT
Under SQL databases, the DATE/TIME stamp is now pulled from the
SERVER, and not the workstation, as in the past. This will help
keep activity dates consistent for large multi-user databases.
ATTACHMENTS ENHANCEMENT
The attachments area will now allow you to "upload" a
file into the database the same way you can on the web version.
In addition, for both upload and for linked files, you can now drag
and drop to and from the attachments area to set the file, or copy
it elsewhere. A linked file points to a location on your hard drive,
while an uploaded file is actually compressed and stored inside
of the database.
SCHEDULE COMPLETED ACTIVITY ENHANCEMENT
When you complete an Interview Followup schedule item, PCRecruiter
now creates an activity record if the item is linked to a candidate/company.
In order to activate this feature, turn on the user preference in
user records marked “Automatically Place Interview Followup
Activity On Schedule".
ACTIVITY EDIT PERMISSION ENHANCEMENT
Under the SYSTEM tab’s Recruiters/Users area, the Activity
permissions for Companies, Names, and Positions now have an additional
option called "Add (No Modify)". This new option will
allow you to set users to add new activities, but they will not
be able to EDIT the text or DELETE any activities.
ACTIVITY TYPE SEARCH ENHANCEMENT
When searching/viewing Activities for Companies/Names/Positions,
you can now
enter multiple activity types simultaneously, separated by a comma.
COMPANY TAB ENHANCEMENT
If you double click the COMPANY tab, it will now reload the NAMES
tab with
the people attached to that company.
ADDR DOCUMENT HEADER ENHANCEMENT
When importing with the ADDR, you now have the option to include
the document header, if it exists. Document headers pertain to WORD/RTF
documents, not HTML. Some resumes may include their contact information
in this invisible part of the document.
ACTIVITY DISTRIBUTION ENHANCEMENT
When creating new Activities, you can now distribute them between
multiple companies/candidates all at one time by using the double-arrow
to the right of the “Copy Activity to Other Records”
checkbox.
HTML EMBEDDED IMAGES ENHANCEMENT
As in the web version, the form letters area will now accept copy/pasted
images and embed them in the database. Formerly, any images going
into a form letter would need to be linked to a web server in order
to be seen on the recipients computer. Now you can copy and paste
your HTML form letters into the application without losing your
images upon sending.
MULTIPLE ROLLUP LISTS ENHANCEMENT
You can now pull up multiple rollup lists at one time (similar to
pulling up multiple candidate notes simultaneously).
AUTODIAL CUSTOM ACTIVITY ENHANCEMENT
You can now set a preference so that when autodialing a name/company,
the activity window can be opened automatically for customizing
the text put into the phone call’s activity.
PLACEMENT REPORT ENHANCEMENT
The placement report now allows you to pull records based on the
Arranged Date (for Perm placements), or Ending Date (for contract/temp
placements).
KEYWORD SEARCH ENHANCEMENT
When doing keyword searches, you can now modify the "common
word" filter list. For example, A, AN, AND, THE, HE, SHE, IT,
BE, OF, etc, etc. Some searches require that some of these words
be returned.
ZIPCODES ON POSITIONS ENHANCEMENT
We have added a zip code field to position records, for cases in
which the position’s zip code does not match that of it’s
company record.
SEARCH FOR LAST ACTIVITY ENHANCEMENT
On basic searches for the names/companies/positions there is now
a checkbox to pull back results sorted by Last Activity Date.
POSITION DESCRIPTION HTML ENHANCEMENT
The position descriptions are HTML format, which will now allow
you to do more extensive formatting such as bullets/fonts/tables,
etc. This will especially be useful for Job Boards that support
HTML descriptions.
ROLLUP LIST LIMIT REMOVED
The limit of 30,000 records selected at a time on rollups has been
removed to reflect the faster computers available on the market.
Keep in mind, however, that a rollup with thousands of records will
still slow the system.
COMPANY/NAME LOOKUP ENHANCEMENT
The code used when pulling up large groups of records on the main
tabs has been greatly optimized, and now brings back results up
to 400% faster.
INDEXING ENHANCEMENT
The database indexer has yet again been improved to make it more
fluid while running in the background.
PERSONAL STATISTICS ENHANCEMENT
PCRecruiter now allows you to display statistics for the current
user, much like the MyPCR screen in the web version. You will find
this feature in the lower right of the main tabs with a button marked
">>". This button will not be visible if you are
running PCRecruiter in 'full screen' mode, so be sure to minimize
the screen if you wish to access the button. The data shown includes:
Open Positions, New Positions This Week, New Names Today, New Name
Activities Today, Interviews This Week, and Scheduled Tasks Today.
If any of these statistics hold numbers, there will be an open folder
next to them that you can click on to jump to these records. For
example, if you see "New Names Today: 5" and click on
the open folder next to it, it will take you to the 5 new records
that you have entered today.
EMAILING INTERNAL ATTACHMENTS ENHANCEMENT
When setting up emails, any place that you could attach an external
file will now also give you the opportunity to attach internal name/company
attachments. This saves the extra step of having to copy the Internal
Attachments to an external file before being able to email them.
LINKED SCHEDULE/ACTIVITIES ENHANCEMENT
When PCRecruiter creates multiple activities for one action, they
are now linked together, so that if you modify one, the others will
also follow along. If you create an activity and add it to the scheduler,
the schedule's description will also follow the activity's description.
The only exception is if you MOVE a schedule task from one day to
another, the activities will not move their date. This is for cases
in which an uncompleted task is pushed off to the next day but you
do not wish to move the activity date as well. Also, when you delete
a linked activity, you will be asked if you would like to delete
all the linked activities, or just the selected one.
ROLLUP LIST PLANNER ENHANCEMENT
You can now selectively assign names from a rollup list to a user's
task schedule. That user will then be reminded to call that list
of people as part of his daily tasks.
SCHEDULE ENHANCEMENT
Schedule task items can now be edited very easily. The menu selection
"Set Recurring Task" now reads "Edit/Recur Task"
and gives you full editing to any part of the task record. You can
even reassign it to another user. Each task record also now has
an alarm pre-delay that can range from 5 minutes to 3 days to determine
how far in advance to alert you of a scheduled task.
ALARM ENHANCEMENT
The schedule alarms can now be individually snoozed for a configurable
amount of time before each one will reappear. Previously, you could
only snooze all alarms for 10 minutes.
EMAIL ACTIVITY ENHANCEMENT
If you pull up the Email Manager and bring in emails from your MAPI
compliant email program, you can now right-click on an email and
click the menu item "COPY TO ACTIVITY". PCRecruiter will
search for a Name that matches the FROM: email address and preload
the Create Activity form with the email contents.
EMAIL HISTORY ENHANCEMENT
When you save a name record, and change the email address, PCRecruiter
asks you "Do you want to save this email address to the history...".
This was done so you could still correlate old emails with the proper
person even after changing their email address. In our new version,
this process will happen automatically without prompting. You can
now view/edit/delete this email history by right-clicking the email
icon right next to the WWW/EmailAddress on the Names tab.
