| Enhancements
and Changes - .839
INTERNATIONAL MAP ENHANCEMENT
The map coordinate system has been enhanced to support international
lookups. If you prefer the old map, which utilizes only the US right
now, the administrator can change it back from the SYSTEM tab under
GLOBAL PATHS.
ALARM BEEP ENHANCEMENT
You can now select in your personal preferences to have the standard
alarm, no alarm, or have it play a .WAV file of your choosing.
CELL/PAGER PHONE SPLIT WEBSYNC
The Cell/Pager phone field has been split so it matches how the
PCR Web version behaves. If your current data is split to the wrong
field, contact support.
RESUME HEADER/FOOTER ENHANCEMENT/WEBSYNC
Resume headers in PCRecruiter now match the PCR Web version. You
can create both a header and a footer. The headers and footers are
cross compatible and will show up in both the Windows and Web versions.
The headers/footers can be embedded as a true MSWord header/footer
(i.e. they appear as a watermarks on every page). And finally, when
sending bulk resumes to multiple recipients, you can choose the
file formats for all the resumes, as well as attach headers/footers
to all the resumes being sent. In the past, you had to send them
one at a time in order to achieve this effect.
CODES SORT ORDER SEARCH ENHANCEMENT
From the SYSTEM tab, when entering or editing rollup lists or search
codes, you can now resort them alphabetically or reverse alphabetically
by clicking on any of the column headers.
NOTE REMOVAL WARNING ENHANCEMENT
When saving company/name notes, if you do a "freeform edit",
as opposed to an add, and you remove all the notes, you will receive
a 'last chance' notice that the notes will be completely removed
for that record if you continue.
SQL KEYWORD SPEED ENHANCEMENT
When indexing notes/resumes on an SQL database, we have redone the
way it works to utilize the power of SQL. The speed it runs them
has been measured as 300% or more increase.
KEYWORD SEARCHING ENHANCEMENT
Now, after indexing notes/resumes, when going back through on keyword
searches, you can now search for words that begin with a period,
such as ".NET". Where if you search for only the word
"NET", you may get a lot of matches back that you did
not want. (Note, that you will need to reindex records that contain
words like .NET in order for this to work.)
EMAIL WINDOW SIZE ENHANCEMENT
When emailing someone from the NAME form, some people with 800x600
screen resolution and the Windows START menu configured a certain
way, would have difficult time in pressing the OK button. This is
now fixed, and the email form is a resized a bit to make it easier
to work with.
ROLLUP MEMBERSHIP ENHANCEMENT
When viewing rollup memberships, it now also shows the memo field
description for the rollup list.
ACTIVITY SPELL CHECK ENHANCEMENT
When entering a new activity, you can now spell check the activity
text before hitting SAVE.
RESUME EMAIL ENHANCEMENTS
From the Resume form, if you click the "Email" button,
this form has received some nice enhancements. First, emailing resumes
can now use the SMTP option (in addition to the usual MAPI). The
text body of the message is also shown so you can modify it before
sending, for activity purposes. It now creates activities with the
email text, as well as an additional activity for the name record
in which you are sending the resume on behalf of. Also, the resume
file itself is listed as an attachment, which you can add further
attachment files if so desired.
KEYWORD INDEX ENHANCEMENT
You can now index keywords that are 1 character in length. Such
as, if you have the keyword "ABC 1 XYZ" for a candidate,
the "ABC" and "XYZ" parts would be indexed,
but the "1" would not because it is only one character.
Of course, index exclusions that are set up still apply (such as
"A", "AN", "THE", etc...")
COMPANY/NAME FIND ROLLUP ENHANCEMENT
From the Company or Name tab, press the FIND button to enter the
query builder. Under the "Limit Search" menu, you can
now define criteria that includes or excludes records that are on
a rollup list for your search.
ADDR ENHANCEMENT
The ADDR has received a couple of symantec improvements on city/state
recognition, as well as a mobile phone field to recognize cell/mobile
phone numbers.
COMPANY USERNAME FIELD ENHANCEMENT
Company records now have the username that created them, similar
to the username that is tagged to each Name record created.
RESUME HTMLTAG ENHANCEMENT
The system has been tweaked to be more forgiving with improperly
formatted HTML resumes where the <BODY> tag is missing.
RESUME HEADER/FOOTER ENHANCEMENT
Resumes can also have footers placed on them now. The resume headers/footers
also allow you to choose "true headers/footers" which
embed them as a watermark on the resume being sent. Furthermore,
headers and
footers can also be placed on a resume being sent in the resume
routing.
INTERVIEW PLACEMENT REPORT ENHANCEMENT
Under Positions, the "Interview/Placement Report" now
allows you to choose which types of interviews to put on the report.
DETAIL FIELD NUMERICAL SORT ORDER ENHANCEMENT
If you have ever had problems with returning proper numeric or date
values in detail field searches, this fix should straighten that
out. To switch to this new format, go to the SYSTEM tab, then click
on "DATABASE SETTINGS", the click on the "MISCELLANEOUS"
tab, and switch the "Detail Field Sort Order" from Alpha
to Numeric. The reason we did not automatically switch over is because
this behavior may be undesirable in some situations. Also, for flexibility,
this setting is separate for each individual database. So you can
have some databases that sort detail fields purely alphabetically,
and other databases that sort detail fields numerically when applicable.
NAME EMAIL ENHANCEMENT
When sending an email from the NAME tab, you now have the options
to send to multiple people, and the CC: and BCC: options are also
included as well. Activities are automatically created for each
person you email, provided that their email address is found in
PCRecruiter.
TASK SCHEDULER ENHANCEMENT
When creating activities from the task scheduler, since we have
split the subject/body into two separate parts, sometimes the subject
is duplicate text that begins the body, and the activity has the
same beginning text twice, which can be a bit awkward. Now, if you
create an activity from the task scheduler, if the subject text
is equal to the first part of the body text, it will not display
the same text twice.
CAREER SEARCH ENHANCEMENT
The Career Search import utility now requires a username/password
in order to import into a database. This was done so that company/user/activity
records will be tagged with the username that performed the import.
The updated utility can be downloaded from http://www.pcrecruiter.com/download/csimport.exe
HOOVER IMPORT ENHANCEMENT
The Hoover's import now requires a username/password in order to
import into a database. This was done so that company/user/activity
records will be tagged with the username that performed the import.
Also, we recently discovered that Hoover's greatly changed their
exported file format. We have rewritten the Hoover's import to handle
this new format, as well as the old format. If you import from Hoover's,
you can obtain this new file from http://www.pcrecruiter.com/download/hoover.exe
AS ALWAYS, REMEMBER TO BACK UP
YOUR DATA!
