Job Description

Production Manager

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • While reporting to the Plant Manager, you are accountable for safety, quality, food safety, productivity, material handling, cost, employee relations, capital improvements and budget preparation
  • The job demands monitoring production performance and implementing processes, procedures, and methods to improve results in all key functional areas
  • This position is responsible for implementing and maintaining best manufacturing practices and regulatory compliance for all production activities
  • Also shares responsibility for preventive maintenance, equipment repair, maintenance performance and systems, and production scheduling
  • Ensure the safety of all employees; lead a comprehensive safety program to prevent injuries
  • Comply with all federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulations (EPA, OSHA, etc.)
  • This is a Title V permitted plant with special environmental regulations
  • Ensure all product quality standards are met
  • Lead the plant in continuous improvement through the implementation the Company Performance System
  • Lead daily operations and daily direction setting process
  • Coordinate production scheduling to meet customer demands, to manage overtime, to minimize inventory, and to reduce costs
  • Build and maintain productive employee relationships, driving employee satisfaction
  • Provide direction, training, and development as needed
  • Provide coaching, counseling, or discipline as needed
  • Recommend disciplinary action to plant manager, and review disciplinary action by supervisors for effectiveness and consistency
  • Work with HR to address employee concerns and issues

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Business
  • Should also have a minimum of 3 years of experience in manufacturing supervision
  • Continuous improvement experience is required as well
