Rudzinsky Associate's client is a rapidly growing laser source manufacturer focused on the design and manufacturing of patented, RF excited, ceramic core CO2 lasers. Our ceramic core CO2 laser provides a significant technical edge when compared to other all-metal lasers on the market. Iradion ceramic core technology is derived from sophisticated military, aerospace, weapon guidance, and atmospheric monitoring systems. This technology has been commercialized over the last decade and now serves the wider industrial laser system market. Iradion's laser sources are characterized by their small package size made possible by the unique ceramic core as well as advanced RF power supplies and high overall reliability.


Job Summary: 

The CTO is a key member of the executive management team reporting to the President and the Company's lead technologist. This individual will lead, manage, and align customer needs with product development and product improvement as well as oversee the transition to manufacturing.


Essential functions include planning, prioritizing, and organizing engineering. Key competencies include excellent technical knowledge, strong communication and organizational skills, the ability to plan and organize work in a fast paced technical environment.



  • Provide leadership and guidance to engineering personnel and programs

  • Develop realistic timescales and budgets for new product developments and engineering activities

  • Ensure the completion of engineering tasks on time and within budget

  • Analyze and respond to customer inquiries in conjunction with sales staff

  • Propose and implement engineering approaches to meeting customer requirements

  • Ensure that designs and manufacturing processes are optimized for performance, quality and overall cost

  • Coordinate failure analysis and problem solving exercises as needed


    Key Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge in the design of low power (<1kW) lasers sources, preferably sealed-off, RF excited CO2 lasers

  • Hands-on experience in laser assembly and beam characterization

  • Optical design capabilities and basic understanding of solid state RF technology are favorable

  • In-depth theoretical and practical knowledge in resonator design (ideally design of unstable slab and/or waveguide resonators).

  • Ability to lead, coordinate, inspire enthusiasm, and provide a sense of urgency and motivation to a high level engineering team

  • Ability to make expeditious decisions

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to present to all levels of the organization

  • Self-starter and creative thinker with the ability to handle multiple projects, understanding key priorities and managing to deliverable dates


    Education and Experience:

  • Demonstrated track record in successfully designing and building industrial gas discharge lasers, and subsystems

  • Prior successful experience in leading technical projects and multidisciplinary design teams

  • A minimum of 5 years’ relevant industrial work experience

  • Master's Degree in electrical engineering, physics, or equivalent fields or commensurate additional work experience

  • US Citizen or Green Card Holder required.
