Are you a self-motivated, confident, and passionate Sr Research & Development Engineer/Engineering Leader who understands and has experience with high speed laser imaging, printing, systems Technology and has a passion for Electro-Optic System Technology Innovation?

In this role you’ll… lead the innovation path of RA’s client‘s Laser based products. Along with the Chief Laser Technologist in charge of more forward looking science/technology development, you will integrate technology modules required to get best-in-class high speed digital laser based imaging and printing systems.

You should possess… a minimum of 10 years ‘development experience with a concentration in laser based electromechanical, optical, software, digital electronics driven systems -- in a competitive and innovative environment.

Main Activities / Responsibilities:

  • Provide systems engineering direction and leadership to multi-discipline design teams in the integration of UV/VIS/IR lasers, galvo heads, sensors, custom drivers, software and firmware into innovative high speed digital laser printers.
  • Use Design-For-Manufacturing and Reliability methodologies.
  • Anticipate Hardware, Software, Firmware and Ink Interplay with respect to imaging algorithms and waveform generators.
  • Develop Systems Specifications for new systems
  • Perform system build, integration, debugging and testing
  • Manage Research and Technology Development (RTD) process including project budgets and schedules.
  • Drive collaborations with laser suppliers and other development partners.
  • Assess technical risks and lead mitigation plans.
  • Work with Future Product Marketing to determine research projects required to support product roadmap.

Education and/or Experience Required:

  • PhD / Master’s Degree in Systems Engineering with emphasis on optics, optical engineering, or lasers, applied physics, electrical engineering with opto-electronics concentration.
  • 10+ years’ experience in system hardware and software development, using stage-gate process.
  • Prior experience with designing or managing a complex laser or optical subsystem is highly desired.

RA’s client – Technology Ctr is an exciting expansion demonstrating our client’s commitment to be the innovation leader in digital marking, identification, printing, coding. This new, state-of-the-art, Global Design Center will be the hub for New Product Introduction of Laser- and DOD-based products. The office is situated close to Boston with easy access by car or public transportation.
