Sales Engineer Optical Test / Measurement: 

Santa Clara office planned/Northern, CA based position/candidate desired 90-100k base + incentive package

Rudzinsky Associates client is a well established technology driven Optical/Photonics firm with a multimillion dollar product line of optical test/measurement/metrology instruments used in a variety of process industries, sold to OEM’s as an add on technology to their equipment. Our client is seeking a self motivated, confident, established degreed engineering sales professional, with great communication skills, who can both hunt and cultivate new and existing customers to further the growth and development of their well established organization. An attractive base and variable compensation package will be provided. Join Rudzinsky Associates client’s growing organization today!   Our client will be opening a Bay Area office.  The Sales Engineer will have the support of an Applications Engineer, but needs to be technically competent as well as a competent Sales professional

Primary Objectives: Maintain, Grow, Support the business for the Optical Metrology/Measurement Product line through new business development, existing customer support / account maintenance.

Sales Engineer Duties:

    • Services existing accounts, enhance and further develop existing customer relationships, and establishes new accounts and business through an understanding of optical/measurement technology, applications of Rudzinsky Associates client’s technology through industry awareness and experience and by planning and organizing daily work schedule to call on existing or potential sales prospects.

    • Conducting product demonstrations at Bay Area office, at trade shows or at customer sites.

    • Organize trade shows, booth, collateral materials.

    • Assisting in writing newsletters and technical articles and white papers for print media and online use.

    • Utilize and or implement company order entry, CRM, or other relevant database or information technology tools for customer management, order entry, order execution.

    • Keeps management informed by submitting sales / customer activity and results reports, such as call reports, weekly work plans, and monthly and annual territory analyses as appropriate.

    • Monitors competition, competitive landscape by gathering current marketplace information on pricing, products, new products, competitive capabilities, delivery schedules, merchandising techniques, etc.

    • Recommends changes in products, or recommends new products, service, and policy by evaluating results and competitive developments.

    • Resolves customer complaints by investigating problems; developing solutions; preparing reports; making recommendations to management.

    • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

    • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.


A BS degree in a relevant technical discipline required, and relevant technical experience.

5+ years of technical sales, sales support, account management, applications engineering support in optical instrumentation, metrology, test/measurement, photonics required.

Experience maintaining and growing sales of sophisticated technical products required.

Experience selling to OEM’s desired.
