Our client is a world leading Optics, Laser, Photonics organization that is in a growth mode in this optoelectronics division. We are seeking a confident leader who has a track record successfully leading the product engineering efforts of optoelectronic devices and their scale up to production levels. We are looking for someone that can help take some of the "dark arts" out of optoelectronics mfg and bring volume mfg processes, metrics, analysis and methodologies to optoelectronics production engineering.

Summary: The Product Engineering Manager is responsible for managing the product engineering group for a special optoelectronic device manufacturing project of RA’s client. The PE manager has responsibility to monitor and maintain product cost, yield, quality, on time delivery and reliability for the assigned product group. As a manger, part of the task is to assign work responsibilities, provide mentoring to the team, and structure the group to allow the implementation of the tactical and strategic goals. The PE manager is also the main point of contact for this project for product engineering tasks. He is also responsible to define and maintain the various interfaces to the different groups within the project (R&D, FMA, Quality, IT, Operations, Product Management).

Job Requirements:


  • Master or PhD degree in engineering or physics


  • Relevant experience in the field of semiconductor lasers or optoelectronics or semiconductor devices
  • Ideally experience as product engineer, yield engineer or testing engineer of lasers or related semiconductor devices
  • Technical contact with customer

Special Skills:

  • Knowledge of semiconductor lasers including physics, manufacturing and applications or other relevant optoelectronics devices
  • Statistical methods and tools, including ability to query test data bases
  • Knowledge of product reliability and qualification concepts
  • Detailed Knowledge of device testing, characterization and failure analysis methods
  • Ability to work cross function and department
  • Ability to deal directly with customers for technical questions
  • English communication necessary
  • Strong organizational and strategic skills
  • Good motivational skills
  • Independent and self-motivated
