Rudzinsky Associates client is a world leader in Optics, Materials, Photonics related products and technologies. Our client is seeking a dynamic, growth oriented, proven Sales & Marketing leader to bring new energy, and growth oriented leadership to it’s US / Global Optics Products business. This position could potentially have responsibility for the the Global business of our client. Selected candidates should have the appropriate level of experience and a track record of sales growth, leadership and accomplishment in Optical/Photonics Sales & Marketing. Previous sales responsibility of 5-20mm+ is desired.

The position scope and responsibility is flexible depending on the experience and seniority of candidates. Position can either be responsible for US business only, or for Global Account leadership, depending on the selected candidate’s background/experience.

Basic Purpose of Job:

The Director of Sales and Marketing position reports to Rudzinsky Associate’s (RA’s) Client’s Global Director of Optics Sales (functional) and to RA’s client’s US President (legal). The Director of Sales and Marketing is responsible for Sales of Optical Products in the US/Globally. One or more Sales Engineers report to the incumbent. Inside Sales people are also available to support the incumbent in Optics sales.

The Director of Sales & Marketing will provide sales and market information in the US/Globally including competitive, customer and business analysis and support for RA’s Client’s Global Director of Optics Sales and RA’s client’s US President in order to increase sales and profitability for both organizations. The Director of Sales & Marketing will provide recommendations to senior management for optimal sales/marketing strategies, and be responsible for implementation of those approved strategies.

This position requires market/business research into strategies for market penetration, new product penetration, and strategic planning/implementation for increasing market share with existing key accounts and identifying new accounts.

Performance is measured by the results of sales and associated activities. In addition, performance will be measured on the success of new account penetration based on mutually agreed upon targets, successful new product penetration, and the dollar value of new business opportunities in Optics as well as profitability targets

Position Responsibilities/Task Elements

Sales Development/Sales Management:

  • Develop business plans for new product penetration and/or new facilities.

  • Identify new opportunities for RA’s client outside the existing customer base and existing markets that fit RA’s client’s capabilities and meet the overall profitability objectives

  • Personally manage some Key Accounts

  • Assist with key account sales calls to help troubleshoot problems as needed.

  • Provide guidance, leadership and support to sales force

  • Develop programs and presentations that enhance the Heraeus image with existing and potential customers.

Strategic Sales/Marketing Management, Planning, Analysis

    • Perform background research, analyze information and recommend strategies for penetration of key accounts that are important to the growth of RA’s client’s US/Global Optics sales.

  • Develop annual market analysis and forecasts of market share for RA’s client

  • Generate annual Budget and monthly Sales Forecasts for RA’s client

  • Make presentations in the form of informational/education seminars to key customers.

  • Complies with RA’s client’s Code of Conduct and the Guidelines including those related to sales and marketing.

  • The incumbent uses company policies and procedures, personal experience and research to perform the job. This person also uses guidance from RA’s client’s Global Director of Optics Sales and RA’s client’s US President.

Reporting Relationship:

  • Reports to Global Director of Optics Sales (functional organization) and to RA’s client’s US President (legal organization)

Training and Experience Necessary:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.

  • MBA preferred.

  • Minimum 5 years experience as a Technical Products Sales/Marketing Manager.

  • Experience in Optical, Photonics Sales / Optical Products Applications strongly desired
