Job Description

Immediate 12 month position available in Summerville, SC

The position of Pump Repair Mechanic 1 is responsible for trouble-shooting, maintaining, servicing and repairing Dewatering pumping and support equipment in a safe and efficient manner in the shop or at a customer job site. This position is also responsible for recording parts and labor accurately on appropriate Work Orders and Internal Equipment Repair forms and participating in a service call rotation.

Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:

  • Rebuild diesel engines and pump ends.
  • Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance and servicing as directed on fleet equipment between each rental.
  • Perform an initial inspection of fleet equipment for possible damages; diagnose damages; report damages to Service Manager.
  • Repair damaged equipment.
  • Test all repaired equipment for proper operation and quality.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on Company vehicles and shop support equipment as directed (air dryer, chain saws, lifts, etc.).
  • Troubleshoot diesel engine, electrical systems and pump problems.
  • Perform diagnostic checks using computer technology.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification:

  • 3-5 years of experience and/or training or combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position
  • Knowledge of:
    • Methods, materials, tools and techniques used in equipment repair and maintenance.
    • Diagnosing basic mechanical problems
    • General diesel engine repair
    • General DC electric and circuit testing skills
    • General diesel engine component location and identification
    • Safety practices and procedures
    • Basic mechanical aptitude
