Job Description

You are a seasoned professional experience modeling population movements, with a background in travel forecasting, travel demand modeling, and transportation data science. You have led, developed and mentored staff. You understand data and data products, and can develop a product road map which meets the needs of your market.

As Director of Research & Development in this Mobility Data Science company, you will take the baton from one of the firm's founding members to manage and plan continuous improvement to a platform that has already developed several revenue streams. Each stream is based on a potent combination of copious data layers, trip planning, demographics and modeling of movements. They include:
  • Advertisers who subscribe to the platform to ensure they deliver the right message to the right people at the right place;
  • Businesses that subscribe to the platform to better understand who frequents their establishments so that they can customize the experience;
  • Governments which utilize this platform to identify segments of the travel & tourism traffic in any given region, and then leverage this information to provide better results for visitor experience and economic impact.
This management and leadership role will collaborate closely with the Sales & Marketing, Engineering, and Product Management disciplines to deliver great results to existing clients while also improving the quality of the actionable insights the platform delivers.

We are specifically interested in individuals with a travel demand forecasting or travel demand modeling background, since this background provides the missing link for which classical data scientists cannot compensate. However, that being said, there are hard skills which are also needed:

  • Strong understanding of techniques in data science (machine learning algorithms, regression analysis, etc.);
  • Experience using Linux required; Desired experience using cloud resources providers like AWS and Google Cloud;
  • 5-8 years of experience in data science and/or statistics, using tools such as Python (required) or R (bonus);
  • 2+ years of experience in SQL and relational databases such as Postgres;
  • Strong familiarity working with geolocation-enriched datasets.

This team of innovators is under contract with advertising and marketing juggernauts won over by their white-label solution based on population movements. They've positioned themselves for the future. They see how a world of MaaS and AV will achieve multiple revenue streams and how brands will interact in that new world.

We wish to speak to individuals with 10+ years experience in travel forecasting and data science about this unique, cutting-edge opportunity.
