A recent report from BidPrime.com detailing state and local government contracts found that software is among the top needs of those entities. This provides a great opportunity for staffing software, recruiting software and other software companies.
BidPrime.com is an online subscription service providing government bids and contract intelligence to businesses. The organization’s most recent report lists each state’s most commonly requested items or services and the number of bids and RFPs issued by state agencies, cities, counties and school districts.
“This serves as a valuable analytical resource for companies projecting new locales for business across the nation,” Jim Ward, vice president of business development for BidPrime.com, said. “Government spending will remain the backbone of this economic recovery, and will remain a requirement for every succeeding business in boosting their bottom lines.”
The report found that the top government bids and contracts wanted throughout the nation during January 2009 were for automobiles; software; networking, IT and ERP staffing; janitorial services; demolition services; road, building, sewer and bridge construction; and printing services.
During January 2009 alone, BidPrime.com tracked 39,281 new bids, more than 30,000 of which were at the state and local level.
“Almost $3 trillion will be spent this year by state and local governments,” BidPrime.com COO Stephen Hetzel said. “Despite increased spending and high numbers of government bids and RFPs, we sometimes see awarded contracts with only two bidders. This demonstrates the lack of awareness about these bids and thus underscores the great value of BidPrime’s services.”
